If you feel like treating a loved one, need to impress a date or simply want a luxurious time in town, then an evening of wine and tapas at one of Mendoza’s best hotels is the perfect solution. Every Thursday evening, Park Hyatt Mendoza, which faces Plaza Independencia in the centre of town, hosts ‘Noche de Vinos y Tapas’. Here, you can enjoy delicious tapas paired with prestigious wines produced in the nearby bodegas of Mendoza.
Following on from its success at the Best of Mendoza’s Wine Tourism 2014 awards, where the hotel won best Innovative Wine Tourism Experience for its Master of Food and Wine event, the Park Hyatt recently decided to host a small celebration alongside the regular Noche de Vinos y Tapas. The menu included:
- Focaccia de Esparrago y Queso Azul – Focaccia with asparagus and blue cheese
- Ragout de Ternera – Veal ragout
- Sandwich de Chistorra, Salsa Criolla y Rucula – Mini hotdogs with salsa
- Bruschetta de Hongos Cebolla y Queso Ahumado – Onion and mushroom bruschetta with smoked cheese
On this particular evening, the wine on offer was supplied by Melodia, the creations of winemaker Jorge Benites. These included a sweet rose, chardonnay and torrontes.
After collecting a glass of wine from the bar, make your way outside to the peaceful and tranquil terrace. Sit back and relax with good conversation while waiting for the next tapas dish to arrive from a swarm of ever-present and helpful waiting staff.
For 100 pesos, tasting three local wines and various tapas dishes is incredibly good value for money. What’s more, the serene and opulent surroundings of the Park Hyatt are a fantastic way to spend an evening as we approach summer.
